Support the Mission
Kalalau Guardians is a mission-driven movement, not a business. We do not have corporate sponsors. We do not have institutional funding. We operate on the commitment of people who believe this valley and its stories are worth protecting.
We are in active transition toward formal nonprofit status. Until that structure is in place, community support is what keeps this work moving.
Where Your Support Goes
Every contribution funds direct, trackable field work:
- Trail tools and safety equipment — ropes, saws, first aid, packs
- Field transport — reaching remote access points along the Nā Pali coast requires vehicles, fuel, and coordination
- Restoration materials — pig fencing, native plant stock, soil amendment for revegetation projects
- Education and outreach — printed materials, workshop supplies, trail orientation sessions
- Moʻolelo documentation — recording equipment, archival costs, elder interview coordination
We are building a transparent accounting structure that will be fully available to Guardian Supporters as we formalize.
How to Support
We are currently in the early organizational phase and do not yet have an online payment processor. To support the mission directly:
Email us at aloha@kalalauguardians.org
Tell us you want to become a Guardian Supporter. We will respond with current contribution options and keep you informed as our formal structure is established.
Become a Guardian Supporter
Guardian Supporters are the foundation of what Kalalau Guardians will become. As we move toward nonprofit status:
- Supporters will have direct visibility into how resources are used
- Supporters will be invited to shape organizational direction
- Supporters will receive regular field reports on what their contributions have made possible
This is not a transaction. It is a relationship with the work.
What We Are Building Toward
Kalalau Guardians is preparing for formal 501(c)(3) nonprofit registration. This process takes time and requires community trust before institutional structure.
We are building that trust first — through field work, through storytelling, through showing up. The legal structure will follow the demonstrated commitment.
When the nonprofit is established, Guardian Supporters will be the first members, the first donors of record, and the founding community of a permanent, community-governed organization.
Other Ways to Support

The valley doesn’t forget those who walk gently. Neither do we.
