Get Involved

All acts of care ripple through the valley. Whether you can give a day of physical labor or a lifetime of stories — there is a place for you in this work.

We do not require credentials. We require sincerity.

01 — Volunteer

Join a trail cleanup, land restoration day, invasive species removal, pig fencing project, or cultural site care session.

No experience required. Wear boots. Bring water. Show up with respect for the land and the people who have cared for it long before any of us.

What to expect: Work is physical. Hours vary — some events are a half day, some are full. We provide tools and direction. You bring presence and willingness.

To join the volunteer list: Email aloha@kalalauguardians.org with your name, general location, and any relevant skills. We contact you directly before each event.

02 — Learn

We run trail orientation sessions, wilderness first aid workshops, native plant identification walks, and cultural knowledge gatherings.

These sessions are open. We share what we know freely — because informed people protect better. An educated visitor causes less harm. A prepared volunteer does more good.

What to expect: Sessions are announced through our Trail Notes newsletter. Some are in-person on Kauaʻi. Some are available remotely. Subscribe below to be first to know.

03 — Share Your Moʻolelo

Every person who has walked the trail, lived near the valley, or felt called by the Nā Pali coast carries a story worth preserving.

Moʻolelo is not nostalgia. It is living knowledge. Stories of where the water crosses, which trees mark sacred ground, what your grandparents said about the ridge — this is the information that survives only if it is passed on.

What to expect: Submit through our community page. We review with care and publish with your permission. Attribution is always your choice.

04 — Support the Mission

Kalalau Guardians is in active transition toward formal nonprofit status. Until then, we operate on direct community support.

Every contribution goes to real, trackable field work: tools, transport to remote access points, fencing materials, educational printing, and coordination.

We are transparent about where resources go. As we formalize, Guardian Supporters will be the first to know — and the first invited to shape what comes next.

05 — Follow & Amplify

Can’t be here physically? You can still carry the signal:

The valley does not ask for much. Just that you show up with respect. That you remember where you are standing. That you leave it better than you found it.
